Drawings of pain vary from arthritides and location. Osteoarthritis is typically worse at night or in the aftermath of rest. Rheumatoid arthritis is generally worse in the morning; In the early stages, patients often have no symptoms following their morning shower. Among the elderly and children, the pain may not be the main feature, and the patient simply moves less (elderly) or refuses to use the affected limb (children). Elements of the history of pain (early, number of joints, and involved, duration, and mitigate the aggravating factors) all guide the diagnosis. Physical examination usually confirms the diagnosis. X-rays are often used to track the progression or evaluate the seriousness of a more qualitative way. The blood tests and X-rays of affected joints are often performed to establish the diagnosis. Screening blood tests may be used if certain arthritides are suspected. This may include: rheumatoid factor, antinuclear factor (ANF), and extractable nuclear antigen specific antibodies.
